SMS Consent & Opt-In Process

Overview

Sitter is a babysitter coordination platform operated by Heath Foundry, LLC. The platform sends transactional SMS messages to sitters for booking coordination, account verification, and account notifications. All SMS recipients provide explicit opt-in consent before receiving any messages. No promotional or marketing messages are sent.

How Sitters Opt In

  1. A parent adds their sitter's name and phone number in the Sitter app.
  2. The sitter receives a one-time SMS from Sitter's phone number with a personalized opt-in link. Example: "Hi [Name]! [Parent] added you on Sitter for babysitting coordination. Tap to opt in (takes 30 seconds): https://trysitter.com/opt-in/[unique-id]"
  3. The sitter taps the link and lands on a verification page at trysitter.com. The page explains what Sitter is and that their phone number needs to be verified.
  4. The sitter taps "Verify my number." A 6-digit verification code is sent to their phone via SMS.
  5. The sitter enters the verification code to confirm ownership of their phone number.
  6. After verification, the sitter sees a consent screen with a checkbox that must be checked before proceeding. The checkbox is unchecked by default. The full checkbox text reads exactly: "I agree to the Terms of Service and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. I consent to receiving booking request texts from Sitter. Msg frequency varies. Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP to opt out. Msg&data rates may apply."
  7. The sitter taps "Sounds good" to complete opt-in. A confirmation screen appears. No booking-related messages are sent until this consent step is completed.

Sitter sends the following types of transactional SMS messages:

All messages are transactional and directly related to the sitter's use of the platform.

Opt-Out

Reply STOP to any Sitter message at any time to stop receiving messages. You will receive a confirmation and no further messages will be sent. Opting out does not delete your account or data. To delete your data, contact support@trysitter.com.

Re-Subscribe

After opting out, reply START to any previous Sitter message to re-subscribe. You will receive a confirmation and resume receiving booking request messages.

Help

Reply HELP to any Sitter message for assistance. You will receive a reply with support contact information. You can also email support@trysitter.com.

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on booking activity. Sitter sends messages only when a family requests a booking, when a booking is confirmed or updated, or when account verification is needed. Typical sitters receive fewer than 20 messages per month.
