Privacy Policy

Version 1.2 · Effective April 2, 2026

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Heath Foundry, LLC, operating the Sitter platform ("we", "our", or "us"), collects, uses, and protects your information. Sitter is a babysitter coordination platform that connects families with their trusted sitters via SMS.

Heath Foundry, LLC is the data controller for information processed through the Service. If you have questions about your data, contact us at support@trysitter.com.

Information We Collect

Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address (for parents), and phone number (for sitters). Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.

Sitter contact information: Parents provide names and phone numbers of their sitters to enable SMS-based booking coordination. Phone numbers are encrypted at rest.

Children's information: Parents may enter children's names and ages to include in booking details. This data is entered by parents, not collected from children directly. See the "Children's Data" section below for more details.

Payment information: When you purchase credits or subscribe to a plan, your payment card details are collected and processed directly by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not store your full card number. We retain records of your purchase history, credit balance, pack size preferences, auto-reload settings, subscription status, plan tier, and renewal dates.

Google Calendar data: If you choose to connect your Google Calendar, we access your calendar event data (event titles, times, and guest lists) via the Google Calendar API to create and manage bookings. We store sync tokens, webhook channel identifiers, and links between calendar events and bookings. We only use calendar data for booking coordination and do not share it with third parties. You can disconnect your calendar at any time from Settings, which stops all calendar syncing and removes stored calendar metadata. Our use of Google Calendar data adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Booking data: Dates, times, notes, outreach history, and sitter response logs are stored to operate the service and provide you with booking history.

Usage data: We collect device information, IP addresses, and page views to operate and improve the service.

Bug reports and screenshots: When you submit a bug report, we may automatically capture a screenshot of the current page to help diagnose the issue. Screenshots are stored on our servers and may contain information visible on your screen at the time of capture.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to operate the Sitter platform, including sending SMS messages to coordinate babysitting bookings, processing payments, syncing calendar events, managing your account, and improving our service. We also use your information for transactional communications (booking confirmations, reminders) and to comply with legal requirements.

We do not sell your personal information to any third party.

SMS Communications

Sitters receive SMS messages when families request bookings. These are transactional messages integral to the service, not marketing. Multiple sitters may be contacted for the same booking, and the first sitter to accept is confirmed. Sitters can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on booking activity. We will never share, sell, or distribute your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in data to third parties or lead generators for marketing purposes. Your mobile information will not be sold or shared with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes.

Children's Data

Sitter is not directed at children under 13. Parents may enter their children's names and ages into their account to include in booking details shared with confirmed sitters. This data is entered by parents, not collected from children directly.

Children's data is shared only with sitters who have been confirmed for a specific booking. Parents can delete their children's data at any time from their account settings.

Cross-Family Data Sharing

When a sitter opts in to Sitter, their identity (name, phone number, and opt-in status) becomes available to any family that adds their phone number. This is core to how Sitter works — sitters opt in once and can be contacted by multiple families they sit for.

Per-family data is never shared between families. This includes hourly rates, nicknames, booking history, and scenario rankings. Each family only sees their own data about a shared sitter.

Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies for essential service functionality, including authentication and referral attribution. When you visit a referral link, we set a cookie to credit the referring family when you sign up. We do not use cookies for advertising or third-party tracking. If we add analytics in the future, this section will be updated.

Third-Party Service Providers

We share information with the following third-party services as necessary to operate the platform:

Each service processes data according to its own privacy policy. We only share the minimum information necessary for each service to function. We do not sell personal information to any third party.

Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Booking history is retained for 2 years after completion. Consent records are retained indefinitely as required for legal compliance. When you delete your account, we remove your profile, booking history, sitter data, and associated records within 30 days. Certain data may be retained as required by law (e.g., payment records for tax compliance).

Data Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from your Settings page, or by contacting us at support@trysitter.com. Deletion requests are processed within 30 days.

When your account is deleted, we remove your profile, booking history, sitter roster, and associated data. Sitter identity records may persist in anonymized form if other families reference that sitter. Payment records are retained where legally required.

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including TLS encryption in transit, encrypted data at rest, encrypted sensitive fields (such as phone numbers), and environment variable credential storage. We do not store personally identifiable information in application logs.

We take reasonable measures to protect your data, but no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Breach Notification

If we discover a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users within 72 hours via email and take reasonable steps to mitigate the impact. We will also notify relevant authorities as required by applicable law.

Your Rights

You may access, update, or delete your personal information at any time through your account settings. You may disconnect third-party integrations (such as Google Calendar) at any time. If you have additional requests regarding your data, contact us at support@trysitter.com.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act:

To exercise these rights, email support@trysitter.com. We will respond within 45 days.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you via email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. The version number and effective date at the top of this page will be updated. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
